For the most part, I would consider any wylebeast to have the potential to show up with any ability that you've ever seen from any other type of wylebeast, with a few likely exceptions. I will mention any ability I have seen, but I suspect that I have not seen every possible type of wylebeast. Wylebeasts can have random, unexpected abilities. Wylebeasts fall into 4 basic categories, but within those categories, there are mutations. Most wylebeast encounters consist of random groups of wylebeasts. It is implied that they are often some sort of twisted mutated humans, turned to monsters by the macabre circumstances of their lives in this demented city. Only step in after the wylebeasts have killed any aggressive NPCs or you'll end up being attacked by both groups. If there are any NPCs in the area when wylebeasts show up, it's typically best to stay out of the way and let them try to fight the wylebeasts. Aggressive NPCs will typically attack the wylebeasts, and can sometimes be quite effective at taking them down. If a human starts attacking you, you typically have no choice but to kill them.īe aware of any NPCs that might be around when you're fighting wylebeasts. A hostile human will continue coming after you until you leave the area or kill them. Once this happens, there is no way to de-escalate the situation. Some unarmed characters can also become hostile, attack you with fisticuffs. Even if you're fighting wylebeasts, or even if you're trying to save them from wylebeasts, armed humans will typically become hostile if you aim your gun while they can see you. However, police and some male characters will react aggressively if they see you aim your gun. I believe that all female characters will run away if they see you aim your gun. Whenever a human sees you aim your gun, they will react negatively. Some human enemies are part of a mission, and will attack you when you enter certain areas. Shotgun wielding humans are particularly annoying, because their unnatural crouching animation while firing their guns will often cause them to inadvertently duck under your headshots right as you fire. Humans can be unarmed and attack you with melee attacks, or they can be armed with pistols, revolvers, or shotguns. Normal humans will always be killed instantly by a single headshot from any gun. It takes 3 bullets from the revolver, or 2 from the revolver, and 1 from the pistol. Grenades and firebombs will kill them instantly. The shotgun will kill them in a single shot in you're close. The rifle will kill them in a single shot. Human enemies can take 5 pistol bullets or the equivalent to the body before dying. Tips for fighting boss enemies can be found in the walkthrough or the mission where you fight that boss. This section is devoted to enemies that can be found throughout the game.
